A weekly summer produce guide to what’s in season right now based on the contents of our CSA share, with CSA and farmer’s market recipes and inspiration.
We’ll get back to vegetables next week, but for now, let’s have some fruit. In Virginia, the sour cherry season is just a week or two, while sweet cherries stretch out a bit more. Weather depending, blueberries should be around for much of June. Strawberries are wrapping up, and mulberries are ripe for a hot second before all that fruit splats on the sidewalk.
New York (I’m back again this week!) is a couple of weeks behind Virginia fruit-wise and a couple weeks ahead of us fashion-wise. Of course, once ripe, all these fruits enjoy a longer season at the NYC Greenmarkets since they draw from farms stretching from southern Jersey to Vermont.

Your photography is gorgeous! You have a new fan 🙂
Thanks for sharing my recipe, Elizabeth. It’s an honor to be among so many lovely recipes! I can only find sour cherries in west Michigan when visiting my parents if I visit at just the right time and make sure to go to the farmers market. I have yet to find mulberries around here, but I’ll keep looking!
So beautiful <3
Berries and stone fruit are totally the best part of late spring / early summer. I buy up as much as I can and freeze or can them to enjoy long after the seasons end. Gorgeous photos, and congrats on winning the Saveur blog award!!
These berries look divine! Heading into winter here over in Oz, but I’m dreaming of Summer now!
