About Brooklyn Supper
Brooklyn Supper was started by married couple Elizabeth Stark and Brian Campbell in 2008. These days, Elizabeth is the voice behind Brooklyn Supper and writes, photographs, and develops the recipes. Brian edits the site while also providing crucial backup on grilling and poultry recipes.
In 2015, Brooklyn Supper received the Editors’ Choice Award for Most Delicious Food in the 2015 Saveur Blog Awards. In 2016, Brooklyn Supper was a top 10 finalist in the Better Homes and Gardens Blog Awards. Brooklyn Supper has been featured on Yahoo Food, People.com, Saveur‘s Daily Fare blog, Food52, Cup of Jo, Die Zeit, Marcus Samuelsson’s blog, Huffington Post, and as part of Fine Cooking‘s Best of the Blogs series. Elizabeth has contributed to Saveur online and to the James Beard Award-winning site Food52.
Brooklyn Supper began as a chronicle of favorite seasonal recipes sourced mostly from local producers, our CSA, and the NYC Greenmarkets. Several years ago, we left Brooklyn for Charlottesville, Virginia, a small city in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. After the move, we realized how challenging it could be to source fresh, local foods outside of major metropolitan areas and made it our mission to develop seasonal recipes and approaches that would work for a broader audience.
Eating seasonally can seem fussy or fancy, but it needn’t be. Seasonal eating simply means trying to get more of your food from the people who grow or produce it when it’s at its best. It’s about knowing where the stuff you eat comes from and being a part of your local food community. Here on BkS, we share fancy food sometimes, but mostly, we want to make simple, straightforward recipes for home cooks at all levels. It’s our mission to help readers to better understand the season and how ingredients can change throughout. If you have a cooking or produce question, I hope you’ll leave a comment or get in touch.
